Medical Technology company to open office operation in Brooklyn
Inogen, a medical technology company that develops, manufactures, and markets portable oxygen concentrators, announced they will expand their operations by opening a new office facility in Brooklyn, Ohio. The new facility is expected to employ 240 people within three years, and create an annual payroll of $12 million.
“We believe that having a sales and service support location based in the eastern time zone will allow us to better serve our customers and we believe that the Northeast Ohio region meets all of the items in our selection criteria,” said Chief Executive Officer Scott Wilkinson. The company, headquartered in Goleta, CA, will utilize the Brooklyn location to support sales, billing and customer service for their products that are used to deliver oxygen therapy for patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
Inogen considered many regions for this expansion. They chose Northeast Ohio in large part because of the skilled workforce available here. In addition, a business-friendly environment was critical in their decision-making process.
Inogen adds to the strong biomedical industry here, the fastest growing industry in Northeast Ohio.
“A natural fit for the Medical Capital, Inogen joins the ranks of innovative healthcare products and services companies thriving in Northeast Ohio,” said JobsOhio Senior Managing Director for Biohealth Aaron Pitts. “We appreciate Inogen’s partnership approach, and look forward to helping them scale from an Ohio base of operations.”
Aram Nerpouni, President & CEO of BioEnterprise added, “We are pleased to welcome Inogen to Northeast Ohio – they are a great addition to the more than 700 biohealth companies, 30 clinical, research and educational institutions, and 230,000 biomedical and healthcare workers that call the Medical Capital home.”
The team of BioEnterprise, JobsOhio, Team NEO and the City of Brooklyn collaborated to make this deal possible.
“A strong team effort, beginning with the City of Brooklyn, made this investment and job-creation project possible.” said Bill Koehler, CEO of Team NEO. “We are delighted to have played a role in helping the City of Brooklyn bring this growing company to our region. We look forward to assisting Inogen to grow and thrive here.”
