Bill Christopher to Receive Team NEO H Peter Burg Regional Vision Award

Team NEO will honor William F. Christopher with the H. Peter Burg Regional Vision Award at the Team NEO Economic Development Plus Awards to be held July 11, 2013. The H. Peter Burg Award is Team NEO’s highest honor, commemorating the late chairman and CEO of FirstEnergy Corporation, a regional leader and the founding chairman of Team NEO.

“For many years, Bill Christopher has worked to enhance the climate for business growth in Northeast Ohio,” said Tom Waltermire, CEO of Team NEO. “Since late 2011, Bill has led a joint effort by the business and philanthropic communities to create a regional economic competitiveness strategy, to guide investments by these two sectors in economic development. Working with more than 150 leaders from business, foundation, higher education and the public sector, Bill has inspired the group to identify priorities and actions that will strengthen the region’s global competitiveness and create a strategy for our long-term success. Bill’s tireless leadership and commitment to driving this effort forward exemplifies the legacy of Pete Burg.”

Bill is currently the President and CEO of Lakeview Consulting Enterprises LLC, specializing in helping small and mid-size businesses develop strategies for growth and implementing management systems for disciplined execution of strategic priorities.

Prior to his retirement in April, 2011, Bill was responsible for Alcoa’s global efforts in the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, building and construction, oil and gas, and fastening systems areas. As Group President, Alcoa Engineered Products & Solutions, Bill oversaw the following Alcoa businesses: Alcoa Power and Propulsion, Alcoa Fastening Systems, Alcoa Forgings and Extrusions, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products, Building and Construction Systems, and Alcoa Oil and Gas. This group of businesses had approximately $5 billion in sales in 2010 and 20,000 employees in 18 countries.

Bill was a member of Alcoa’s Executive Council, the senior leadership group that provides strategic direction for the company. He also served as the director of Alcoa’s Global Aerospace Market Sector.
