Selling Northeast Ohio’s Business Assets

On June 14, Team NEO hosted the Northeast Ohio Economic Development Exchange (NODE), a group of local economic development professionals, for a mock familiarization (FAM) tour to showcase how Team NEO sells the region to companies and consultants. As a regional economic development organization, Team NEO, in collaboration with its partners, helps attract new businesses while assisting those that are already here to grow and expand. The FAM tour provided an opportunity for local economic developers to learn more about how Team NEO positions the region, sharing insights that economic developers can leverage when working with companies in their local communities.

The morning activities included presentations on the benefits of doing business in the region, focusing on the region’s overall assets such as education and research institutions, the low cost of doing business here, infrastructure and our growing innovative clusters. Presenters also highlighted topics such as JobsOhio’s Talent Services and identifying competitive sites and buildings to meet a growing demand.

The half-day event concluded with a cruise along the Cuyahoga River, where attendees gained a new appreciation for this tremendous asset. Jim White from the Port of Cleveland guided the group on its tour, sharing information about how community efforts have been at work to revive the river.

With more than 50 in attendance, the FAM tour was viewed as a great success overall and an event that NODE may look to replicate in the future.
