Earlier this year the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, a technology-based economic development initiative that supports existing industries that are transforming themselves with new, globally competitive products, awarded more than $15.8 million in grants and loans to Northeast Ohio companies, startups and universities. Four of the grantees – MesoCoat, Vadxx Energy, Akron Surface Technologies and The University of Akron – each received funding to support development of products in the polymer, plastics and advanced materials categories.
