Monina’s Favorite Things in Northeast Ohio:
Cleveland is a hot spot for dining. And the perfect way to end a terrific meal is with a fine dessert. Try the Buttered Popcorn Pot du Crème at The Greenhouse Tavern, the Milk Chocolate Panna Cotta at AMP 150 or any of the homemade pies at Hartville Kitchen.
Friday Night Lights
The crisp air is enough to get me outdoors in the fall, but there’s just something about hitting a high school football game in Northeast Ohio. Some towns virtually shut down for games.
Diehard Sports Fans
Speaking of sports, in Northeast Ohio, it’s kind of a big deal. We have teams from the MLB, NFL, NBA and a myriad of other leagues, and behind each one are loyal fans who root for the home team.
Birds Eye View
Nothing takes my breath away quite like seeing the city from the 42nd floor of the Terminal Tower. Cleveland never looked so pretty.
Cleveland Museum of Art
Monet, Van Gogh and Dali have all found a home here in Northeast Ohio at the Cleveland Museum of Art. 45,000 pieces of work, and it won’t cost you a penny to see them on display.
This gem houses the largest theatre district outside of Broadway in the United States. Enough said.
Freshly fallen snow is enough reason to love Northeast Ohio around the holidays. But we also have fantastic events, like the Holiday Tree Festival in Akron, Winterfest in Cleveland and the Cleveland Orchestra Christmas Concert in historic Severance Hall. And don’t forget A Christmas Story House.
We may be the rock capital of the world, but Northeast Ohio is also home to a plethora of live music fests, awesome venues and talented musicians. And I’m not just saying that because one of my good friends is in a band.
Instant Cultural Immersion
Food and art help define Cleveland’s AsiaTown community. Bustling markets and diverse Asian restaurants attract visitors from around the region. Be sure to explore the art galleries hidden in several of the plazas.
Sunsets Over The Lake
There’s nothing quite like watching the sunset over Lake Erie. And the city provides several vantage points to take in the sight. My favorite spot is just east of the Edgewater Park Fishing Pier on the rocks of the Lakefront Reservation.
