With more than $20 billion in developments from 2009 – 2016, Cleveland Plus, is a lively, vital destination. Major investments are occurring in the corporate sector, healthcare and biotech, hotel upgrades and new construction, entrepreneurial activity, transportation infrastructure and higher education, as well as mixed use/entertainment and cultural venues and projects.
The following are examples in each of the mentioned areas:
Eaton Corporation, with almost 2,000 employees, remains committed to the Cleveland Plus region. The organization has invested $170 million in a new headquarters in Chagrin Highlands.
The Global Center for Health Innovation/Cleveland Convention Center is the only facility in the world of its kind and offers a glimpse into the future of health and healthcare. The $465 million investment opened in 2013.
HOTEL UPGRADES/NEW CONSTRUCTION
The Hilton Cleveland Downtown Hotel, a 600+ room hotel, opened in June 2016. The hotel links directly to the Cleveland Convention Center and Global Center for Health Innovation.
Third Frontier, the state of Ohio’s technology-based economic development initiative, has invested $550 million in high-potential entrepreneurial ventures in Cleveland Plus.
Akron-Canton Airport in undergoing a 10-year, $110 million capital improvement project.
$176 million in improvements will almost double the 450,000 square-foot campus of the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Portage County.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton is currently undergoing a $500 million expansion project. The project includes new construction on the Hall of Fame’s
entertainment village that will feature restaurants, retail and a sports-entertainment complex once complete.
