The Experience Cleveland Plus e-card features a tour of the Cleveland Plus region, showing attractions in Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown. Suggested for individuals, corporations, colleges, Internet pen pals, real-estate agents, developers and human resources departments, the e-card can be viewed or sent from the Cleveland Plus Web site.
Merchandise
Cleveland Plus logoed merchandise is an additional way for people to rally around the new spirit of our region. The logoed items, available at www.clevelandplus.com, include: Polo shirts, golf balls, pens, calculators, lapel pins and stainless steel travel mugs, among others. All in-stock merchandise is available at a reduced retail price, with no minimum order required.

Area biomedical industry thriving at healthy pace
Northeast Ohio's biomedical industry, which has been reporting one economic victory after another in recent years, has more good news to share. Medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and bio-research firms are growing at a faster rate (37% growth over 5 years and 7.4% annual growth) here than the national average, as well as taking over a larger share of the local economy. This continues a strong heritage of manufacturing and innovation in the region.

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council recently ranked Ohio 10th in tax friendliness to small companies and entrepreneurs, based on 16 tax measures that are combined into a single score. Those measures include a state’s top personal income tax rate and capital gains tax rate, as well as sales, unemployment, gasoline and property taxes.

JumpStart Inc. helped the regional economy grow by $75.7 million in 2008, according to a study commissioned by the organization from Cleveland State University's Center for Economic Development. That's a 29 percent increase from JumpStart's $58.5 million economic impact in 2007.

Akron Art Museum Book Club Meeting:
May 7
"Black and White," a novel by Dani Shapiro, will be the focus of the museum's first book club meeting this spring. The new club, led by associate educator Alison Caplan and librarian Ellie Ward and inspired by the museum's docent tour guides' informal offsite book club, is set to officially begin on May 7 at 6:30 pm in the museum's Martha Stecher Reed Library.
Silver Spoon Awards Party: May 14
The 15th Annual Cleveland Magazine Silver Spoon Awards Party is a strolling food and wine tasting event featuring award-winning restaurants. It is one of the region’s finest social and culinary evenings.
HORSEFEST 2009: May 16-17
Held at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, this two-day equine extravaganza showcases the versatility and history of the horse and features training techniques and demonstrations. Attendees can watch more than 20 breeds participate in a variety of activities and demonstrations for all ages to enjoy.

Art and Power in the Central African Savanna: through May 31
The Cleveland Museum of Art currently hosts the free exhibit, where visitors can see 60 central African sculptures whose original purpose was to mediate between the human and spirit worlds. From small, abstract containers to large and elaborate figures carved and decorated with great refinement, the exhibition presents a compelling array of these beautiful and fascinating works of art, many of which have never before been exhibited in the United States.

Five new cities are joining the Travel + Leisure “America's Favorite Cities” survey in 2009. How will Travel + Leisure select them? They won't – you will.
