In December, The George Gund Foundation awarded a grant in support of the Cleveland Plus Web site, www.PlusCollege.com. Plus College is a site designed to familiarize Northeast Ohio’s 180,000 college students with the region’s arts, entertainment and cultural assets, while connecting them with internship opportunities. The grant will provide for a project manager to help raise awareness for the site among its target population while identifying revenue streams to sustain it.

Ohio Third Frontier supporters hit the grassroots campaign trail
Supporters of the Ohio Third Frontier kicked off a campaign to encourage voters to renew the state’s largest economic development program by voting “Yes” on Issue 1 in the May primary election. Third Frontier is the $1.35 billion, 10-year effort to rekindle Ohio’s economy by investing in technology research, development, commercialization and entrepreneurship in five industry clusters.

Did you know? The Third Frontier program, which had a $6.6 billion economic impact, created 41,300 jobs and returned $10 for every $1 invested by the state in its first seven years, will run dry by mid-2012 without renewal.
