Northeast Ohio is guiding the development of freshwater, offshore wind energy in the Great Lakes region with the goal of leading the nation in its first offshore wind energy endeavor. Specifically, the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) in Cleveland is currently working on a pilot project to build six wind turbines seven miles off the coast of Lake Erie.
