Long-Vacant Hotel Becomes Site of New Universal Windows Direct HQ

Company Builds $3.5M Headquarters in Bedford Heights

September 6, 2017 officially marked the kick-off of a much-anticipated construction project that will transform a long-vacant hotel in Bedford Heights into Universal Windows Direct’s new corporate headquarters. To make the project a reality, a project team from Team NEO, JobsOhio and the City of Bedford Heights worked with the company to structure a package that will help create 40 new jobs.

The company’s new $3.5 million headquarters will sit on a site that was originally a Ramada Inn built in 1970. Located on Rockside Road, the hotel changed ownership several times and was permanently closed in 2009 after being severely damaged in an electrical fire. Due to the damage sustained in the fire, Universal Windows Direct is using a redevelopment grant to demolish the building and clean up the site for its new headquarters.

As noted in this article from Crain’s Cleveland, “The city believes the redevelopment of the hotel property will eliminate an eyesore and allow for redevelopment of the Rockside Road area as a home to businesses services and light manufacturing.”
