The NASA Glenn Research Center
It’s the only NASA center located in the northern United States and one of the few centers directly involved in the nation’s space exploration. In fact, NASA Glenn will play a critical role in testing the new Orion spacecraft that will be used in future missions to the Moon and Mars. NASA Glenn was also chosen to design the service module component of the crew exploration vehicle (CEV) in 2006.

The excitement continues at the NASA Glenn Space Power Facility in Sandusky. Home to the world’s largest space simulation chamber, measuring 100 feet in diameter and reaching 122 feet in height, this facility was ideal for testing the Mars lander systems and International Space Station hardware. It will also participate in the testing of the Orion spacecraft.

Lockheed Martin
The Lockheed Martin Airdock located in Akron is currently developing a new High Altitude Airship (HAA). Capable of providing sustained operations for one month at 65,000 feet, the HAA will supply 10 kilowatts of power to a 4,000- pound payload. This prototype will also demonstrate station-keeping and autonomous flight control capabilities.
